I am having a new socket built to accommodate shrinkage. My residuum is on the short side, approximately half of the femur, and until recently I have been using a socket that encompassed the ishiuum and the trocaner with a sculpted area to lock in the adductor, also a tab to accomodate the sit bone. That worked pretty well but was a lot of stuff to have jammed up into the crotch, also kinda heavy. So lately I have been trying a check socket that is cut below all of the above features and while more comfortable I just do not have enough control while walking and find that all the muscles of the hip and residuum are easily exhausted.
Bottom line is that I am intending to have the all encompassing type that I had before built again. My question is, has anyone here been successful in building the necessary strength to use a low cut socket with a short residuum?
