I used to get blisters when I first had a stump, a few years ago, but they went, thankfully, and I've led a blister-free life for a few years.
Recently, caused (I am sure) by a badly-aligned socket, I've picked up a new one, right on the front of the shin, right at the bottom of the stump, so almost no way to avoid it getting repeatedly bashed.
I've kept off it all I can, which isn't much, as Mrs Allen still has her broken arm and cannot do a lot of household stuff (e.g. cooking!), and next week I get my new leg, so I'm hoping it will clear by then, otherwise I'll have little chance of a 'good' fitting... Ah well, I know many people would love to have so trivial a complaint.
Allen.

Allen, Is the blister broken? I know what they tell you, but I always find that they heal much better for me if I DO break them. Of course use a good cream & keep it covered with a soft clean bandage.

Hello Ann.
Broken and gone, largely, except for bits of broken skin (still 'live' skin, not just dead bits). Fairly well dried up, so going in the right direction.
But as I say, it's the reason WHY I was getting the new leg, i.e. that I was getting recurring pains in that region from the stump getting bashed. So often, you look for lines between points, but reality just gives you circles.
And just to add to the circles, I have to go down to London on Friday for a pre-op check for next week's eye operation, a journey which I don't normally mind - drive to station, get the tube, up and down stairs, walk to hospital. But without forking out fifty quid on cabs, there's no choice. Circles.
Life's rich pattern, eh?
Allen.
