So far I'm 6 weeks post op. All the pain is gone, I have my life back. From here on out everything is just icing.
My mom totally came around and even apologized for being a ding ding. My Dad walked away which is par for the course with him.
But my husband, my family, my church family, and my friends have been amazing. I feel like I have an entire cheering section.
I got my temp leg on Friday and walking is going well.

Congratulations. Some folks will take a while to come around. A few just never will, I'm afraid.
Glad to hear you're officially upright again.

About 5 days after surgery it hit me hard, like a ton of bricks upside the head, I got my life back, I'm free! Wow, to have real hope for the future again, not the fake stuff that we put out trying to keep ourselves from falling into the pit of despair, but real actual hope that makes our heart sing, it feels AWESOME!

I'm so glad to hear that it's gone well and given you a positive outcome, annanicole! Now I wish you all the best on the prosthetic front!
I also hope that your dad will come around once he figures out how much of an improvement this has made in your life...I'm very glad to hear that your mom is now on your side, and your "cheering section" sounds delightful! All the best to you!

That's amazing! About five days after my amputation I had the opposite reaction. I had wicked insomnia and sat up one night looking at the space where my foot used to be and realized that it was gone and not coming back. I felt like my overall worth and usefulness to the world had taken a nose dive!
Those feelings didn't last long...
And now --> No regrets!

Stonecutter, that must have been simply awful! I was "lucky" I got to process my amputation as well as choose and own it prior to doing it.
I met a girl online, a little younger than me, almost same situation, and she got the exact same amputation 2 days after me. Bka, bone bridge and myodesis. She and I chat regularly on face book it's been awesome.
So far I had my second mod to my check socket, and I'm now 50% weight bearing on the bottom of my leg 50% suspended at the top of the prosthetic. Pretty cool.
Walking is getting easier! The first handful of steps are evil each and everytime, but I assume that will get better with time.

I am really pleased for you annanicole you are sounding like you are doing really well. I've got to say the difference between your treatment your side of the pond and here is like whole different ball game and perhaps something our NHS here needs to examine, because we seem to have to wait months for prosthetic fitting following surgery.

Oh those first few steps when it's still quite new... I remember those. It isn't like that forever...

Hahaha Ann, they are SHOVING me through the prosthetic process, because I've met all my insurance maximum amount I have to pay for services for the year. In addition to my insurance premiums, I've paid over $7500 this year. My prosthetist wants my leg done before 12/31 so my insurance pays for all of it. That's where the speed comes from.
