I wanted to take a minute to thank those who have helped me. 15 e mails which resulted in several helpful long technical discussions and especially the 7 people who took the time to talk to me on the phone.
Also, those patient dedicated folks who are always responding on the board itself .
As usual, I am suprised at how few people post, and the strong preference for private e mail and phone communication. I guess for most, this subject is very personel.

Jill, I'm glad you've been able to put together a good support network. It's showing in your posts...you don't sound so dreadfully overwhelmed now, and I hope you're also feeling more connected to folks who can help. I know that, when I was "new" to amp life, I found tremendous assistance and reassurance through online sources. That's one of the reasons I post "public" replies here...I figure that, even if someone is too shy, or overwhelmed, or feels their situation is too "personal" to share, they may still read a thread here that will be helpful for them. And, just maybe, they'll eventually post their own questions...which will then help someone else down the line.

Another place for online support is the group "Facebook Amputees" on (where else?) Facebook.
I find it a bit impersonal since there are soooo many people and some of the folks can be a bit nasty. We have a pretty good system of administration here where we won't put up with that kind of 'nastiness.' I have very heavy boots to kick people out if they get out of line. We've only had to use them a couple of times since we opened this little forum in 2009 - so it's a small but very good group!
I miss Allen though. Anyone hear how he is?
