Hello everyone, my name is Martha Nunez I’m an Industrial design student at NJIT. This semester one of my projects is to design a product that helps someone in some way. I decided to help people who had lost an extremity or is an amputee. I'd like to know if there is something that you would like to be designed to help your activities around the house or something that makes your lives easier in some way. I thought to design something that helps you in the shower maybe a special prosthetic or seat. But I’m open to suggestions also id like to ask some questions if you don’t mind. I will really appreciate your help. Thank you very much

OK, here is a specific project that will this achieve this goal, in the real world, and is not being done elsewhere as far as I know. An actual opportunity to contribute, not just a classroom grade. A company has just come out with a very cheap myo device, www.thalmic.com/en/myo/This is priced so low that any amputee could afford one. The project: develop the software to permit an arm amputee to wear this on their stump and be able to use it as a mouse when typing or drawing on their computer. I will help you if you want. write to me Jill

Hello Jill, how are you? That is a really interesting product thank you for the information. Im already working with the shower product idea. Im interested in creating a product that can make taking a shower easier for amputee people. i don't know if is you or someone in your family, but id like to ask you if you or that person use something in the shower either a prosthetic or seat? and if so what will be that thing you'd change about it? It's been really hard for me to get in contact with someone because id visited doctor's offices and therapy places but for privacy concern i can not get much information any help will be great. Thank you.

There is nothing really new you can add to that area. It has all been done.
It is a good, vanilla project. You'll get a C or a B with it and it won't take alot of time.
If you want to do something really special, find something that has NOT been done already.
Whatever, good luck with it.
