Anyone found a way of getting an email notification when a new posting is made? Most boards have it as an option, but not it seems Proboards.
Unless I just haven't found the button yet!
Allen.

Okay - good news folks. I've finally got the answer to your inquiries about how to get an e-mail (or PM (Personal Message)) about threads you'd like to watch or have notification of updates on. First, you'll need to edit your Bookmark preferences. Go to Profile at the top of the page, then select "Bookmarks" on the next page, towards the right hand side of the table that is shown, select "Manage Bookmarks" On the next page, there will be a question: "By default, when you bookmark a thread, what type of notification would you like to receive when a new post is made in that thread?" In the pulldown below that, select your preference for notification. Click the "Update Bookmarks and Preferences" button and return to the forum and browse normally. When you see a thread you'd like to have notification on, down near the bottom of any page in the thread, there's a button that looks like this: Click this button. You will now get updates in accordance with your selection to the e-mail address you've registered with, or by Personal Message the next time you log on. To remove the bookmark, find the similar button called "Remove Bookmark" and the feature will be removed for that thread. I'm not sure if that's explained clearly enough... Let me know if I need to clarify... Thanks! Trevor

Awesome, appreciate the work in discovering how to set this up. I have set mine up, and bookmarked the threads I am wanting to watch. You would think they would make all this stuff the same, kinda like the credit machines at the stores...

I've posted on a bunch of different message board/newsgroup systems and this is the hardest, least-intuitive one to use. One of the best is at www.delphiforums.com/ and it's free as well.

See it as keeping your brain active, Tom, like a crossword!
But if/when we do think of changing, we'll ask for suggestions and bear your delphiforums in mind. When we set this one up, stonecutter went for the easy option, as we were just coming out of an unsatisfactory relationship with our last board, or rather the way it was run.

Hey, Allen, looks like the suggestion on getting an email notification worked, so it's all good. Most of my effort on keeping active these days is physical, not mental. ;-)

Well, I tried modifying my Profile, Managing my Bookmarks, and standing on one leg, but nothing actually worked, i.e. I never get any notifications.
Is it something I'm doing? Stonecutter! Help!
Allen.

Alan, I just got an email notification that a new message was posted in this thread. It would be wonderful if I could remember or figure out what I did to make that happen, but I can't.

Thanks for all that hard work, stonecutter. Doesn't work with my setup for some reason (Apple Mac/Firefox), but never mind - the important thing is that it DOES work for other people. I'm quite happy to trawl through the boards!
