Does anyone know what department/doctor you should work with as your advocate for the decision process of electing to amputate below the knee due to poor blood circulation? I'm trying to understand who makes the decision to order an amputation. Vascular at Mayo has said my venus circulation is poor and likely not improve. The pain would be managed by the neurology department and orthopedics, I believe, would perform the amputation. With these 3 departments/factors, does anyone know who I should work with the most to look into this? Read more: amputees.proboards.com/thread/633/chose-amputate-leg?page=1#ixzz3pvtm2hBj

(Keep in mind I'm not a doctor or medical professional at all). I think the team should be lead by vascular with close consultation with the other specialties if the problem can't be remedied by the vascular doctor, the others are there to support and fix/remove the collateral damage.
