Embrace Project Workshop: Los Angeles Nov 8th
From: Philip Tamoush <philiptamoush@juno.com>
Join Naomi, a skilled and very concerned instructor, for an afternoon of fellowship and good exercise.
We are doing another EMBRACE project workshop- the Argentine Tango for amputees. It will happen this Sunday from 2-3pm at a dance studio located close to Century City. It will also be catered to the amputee support groups as we would like to explore the possibilities of this dance for amputees.
We will briefly introduce the history of tango, and cover some of the benefits along with a demonstration by Brenda (Left AK) and a chance for you to try dancing.
There are no fees. Please bring comfortable footwear, clothing, and refreshments if necessary. Come along with your family and friends if you would like!
The studio address is as follows:
Pacific Arts Center 10469 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90025
Please give us a heads up and RSVP by email or phone. Feel free to pass this along to whoever might be interested! Thank you and we hope to see you!

This is cool! I do Scottish Country Dancing and even though I can't point my toe and don't Look Good, I can do it well enough for others to enjoy having me in a set. Dancing is wonderful excercise, it takes you away, gives you joy and a connection to the people you are dancing with through sharing the joy. If I were anywhere near LA I would go. It would be really nice to dance with other amputees!!!!

Back in the 60s, I used to write for a (now defunct) 'leisure' newspaper called 'Dance News'. I couldn't dance then, and haven't learned since. Pre-amp, I could jig about a bit, particularly when I was a drinker, but one leg and abstinence seemed to have cured me.

You should have been at the banquet at the ACA conference this year, Allen...There's nothing quite so beautiful as a dance floor full of amputees all living it up to the music! Granted, I've always been a spectacularly lousy dancer...and becoming one-legged hasn't improved matters any...but even I got out there a few times!
