Hello, I am a left leg ak amputee. I am 21 and wish to resume an active lifestyle. I have been doing some research on electronic prosthetic knees and am wondering if anyone has had experience with the Ottobock C leg 3 or 4. Tell me some about them, pros and cons? What difference did ottobock make with the 4th gen if you are aware, and is it really worth the extra money? All input is welcome. My insure only covered a hydrolic knee, I am looking to possably purchases an electric knee out of pocket. Any advice on what to get, or sites to buy them would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have one for sale please let me know. Thanks -Patrick

Hi patman, the 4th gen is considerably heavier than the gen 3, they eliminated the strain gauge/toe load in favor of a gyro to determine when to flex. The the gen 3 I could always get to flex by loading the toe, I drag my toe sometimes now with gen 4 on uneven ground/hills, and any hesitation when flexing will lock the knee, not crazy about that feature. The new gen 4 is supposed to be water resistant. I prefer the lighter weight and more predictable earlier models I have 2 of them, unfortunately they are both broken and 2 prosthetists have advised OB will not repair them. Check out www.freedom-innovations.com/plie-3/ This will be my next knee. I'm done with OB. Good luck Jim
