I am looking to go from a regular AK prosthetic to one with a microprocessor.
I am wanting to know the good and the bad of doing such. I only got my prosthetic in October and I have yet to walk without a walker. I have walked a very limited amount with a cane and my therapist right there to grab me. I was very shaky and unsure although I think I will eventually get the hang of it.
My goal is to return 95% of what I was able to do prior. I want to mow my lawn and able to walk into football stadiums etc for games both high school and college.
Any advice and information I can get will be very much appreciated.

Hi - I'm guessing that since this was posted in April, you've likely made a decision one way or another, but: I have an Ottobock C-leg microprocessor knee and would highly recommend it! I received it about a year ago, and am now back to being able to do almost all of what I could before, though sometimes with more limited stamina. I can walk, hike, help move boxes, carry a bike up and down stairs, and otherwise do just about everything I want to in my household. (...I can also climb trees again, which is great, but to be fair I did not *stop* doing this when I was still on crutches.)
If you're having trouble getting insurance approval to cover the cost (which is a lot! I think my whole leg was $50k sticker price), my insurance mostly wanted confirmation that my intended activities would "justify" my needing the C-leg's capabilities. Having to walk at different speeds on uneven terrain, etc.
Best of luck with your journey!
