At 1 month post-surgery, I will receive my prosthesis soon. I have seen you tube videos on the "pin" type and "suction" type and would like to know the most preferred or maybe the most modern. Any thoughts?

Hi there Harry!
I have a pin AND suction type prosthesis. I have had appliances in the past that were one or the other, and my latest onw that combines both principles in one.
I find that having the two principles applied to the same prosthesis provides added stability and lots of forgiveness when the suction is compromised. I very much like this set up.
I have a new leg under construction right now (completion TBD) which incorporates the same principles PLUS a vac pump to keep the integrity of the suction. I've never had a vac pump before so happy to try one out.

I agree with Trevor. My new prosthesis incorporates the pin and elevated vacuum suspension. According to my doctor, the pin suspension tends to reduce the volume of your residuum while the suction or elevated vacuum both increase the volume. By using a combination of the 2 suspensions, your residual limb remains more stable in terms of volume
