I can't find where the 2014 movie mentioned in the article has been released, but I think the 2010 documentary, Into the Wind, does a superb job of telling Terry's story. I lost my arm to the same kind of cancer to which Terry lost his leg. When I was diagnosed in 1971 the 5-yr survival rate for osteosarcoma was only 5%* (Terry's diagnosis was in 1977). According to a 2014 article, the cure** rate is now up to 80%, and they are usually able to salvage the limb: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/terry-fox-s-cancer-now-highly-curable-researcher-says-1.2765316Woo hoo! Helen *Prior to that the only treatments were surgery and radiation. I was part of a trial which added chemotherapy to the mix, which ultimately became responsible for the vastly increased survival percentages.
**I wish they wouldn't use that word. There is still no cure for cancer. Survivors always live with a chance of recurrence, though it's greatly diminished after 5 years.

Sadly, I haven't heard anything more on the movie project. With that improvement in the percentages, it sounds like the 'management' rate is promising. (Not using the 'c' word).
