Hi People, I was thinking I should expand my acquaintances to include people dealing with this major issue. I'm an old fart...just turned 71 yesterday. 25 years ago...coming home from the movies...a had a collision with a drunk driver who ignored a stop sign.
I probably should write this up as a story for that thread. Suffice it to say...I'm pretty experienced at bka prosthetic use. Just got my latest shiny carbon fiber unit a week ago and am doing good on it.
Looking forward to meeting some of you and participating in some discussions. JD

Hi, Johndee, Welcome to the forum! I've only been around the forum a little while myself. I get the impression that these days there are fewer visitors to this forum than there were a few years ago. I'm almost 15 years past my amputation (very high left-arm amputation due to necrotizing fasciitis) and am at the point where I don't really think about it much. If I notice someone staring, I just chalk it up to my rugged good looks! But every once in a while I think "basically, months will go by without my meeting a fellow amputee." Which is why I joined -- just to occasionally "meet" someone who knows what it's like to have a big chunk of you body missing. Eric

my husband just had a BKA done about 3 weeks ago, we're kind of lost can't find a support group in our area and other than the prosthetic place no one has told us what to do. I would greatly like any information you are willing to give.
