Programs:Prosthesis Fund -- Money raised through fundraisers, benefits, and charitable donations is used directly to benefit the life of an amputee. Each qualified applicant is partnered with a certified prosthetist who fits them for a brand-new prosthesis and provides essential follow-up care. World Limb Bank -- The limb bank collects used limbs and distributes them, free of charge, to amputees in developing countries. Network of Contacts -- A network of prosthetists, therapists, and emotional support contacts. Prosthetists partner with the foundation by offering their services, while qualified physical and occupational therapists provide cost-free follow-up calls to those who receive prosthetic awards. Emotional support contacts empathize with the amputees and counsel them on challenges of limb loss. Public Information -- Craig Gavras, executive director and a founder of Limbs for Life, will speak in schools, colleges, athletic associations, and civic groups to educate people about the challenges and opportunities experienced by amputees. I went thru LFL when I got my second leg made. They are wonderful to work with. The application and approval process takes a little bit of time, but it was worth the wait.
