I have right below knee amputation from a compound ankle fracture from falling, its been 4 years from onset ,multiple surgeries ,,got infected ,,then was advised either more surgery with 30 percent chance working or amputation so chose amputation.
I was able to walk in my unit for 2 1/2 to 3 years and elbow crutches outside..
I was able to use a temporary prosthesis at the hospital for approximately 3 weeks 2 times week for around 30-60 min then was able to take it home with using it 30-60 min a day for 2 weeks but found it extremely to painful so had a break and put it back on and straight away it was just to unbearable.
I tried different things got it adjusted but found it really unpleasant so put everything on hold.its been around 5 weeks since quitting.
I am very fit aged 40 and worked construction so I know when something is not going to work.
My muscles in my right leg where damaged and was told they would rebuild or get better but I was walking on it before with it being exactly the same for 4 years.
My theory is my right leg is completely out of whack and the explanation is to keep trying from physiotherapist and my mother but I just this hunch it's not going to work.
I was told it would take a while but to be honest feel like the only one benefitting out this whole situation is the people at the hospital because they get paid allot of money Being the prossessis costs approximately 12000/15000 dollars and it's a separate body that is involved as well to the hospital meaning people are making money from something that is similar to false hope.
I do believe it works for some people but what I am saying is my whole leg is not right and believe I am not the right candidate and 4 years of constant visits to the hospital I have lost my patients.
My question is ,,does it really hurt for 3 to 6 months when starting then you get use to it.because I had it for 1 month with use and found immediately putting it on it was unbearable.
Any information would greatly appreciated and thank you.
