I'm currently using (and have been for 2.5 years) an Otterbock above the knee prosthetic. While it has some very advanced features and appears extremely durable, it is heavy and the socket can get hot in the summer. Are any of you using a different company's prosthetic that may be lighter in weight and have a cooler socket? I have read about Martin Bionics that advertises what they call a "socketless" socket but not sure about its quality. Any insights?

I have a C-LEG4 for daily use and if it Needs to be waterproof i use a VGK-S which is much lighter than ... I think pure mech knee´s could be much more lighter but ...
You could save the weight of the Liner(0,5kg), if you use a vacuum socket. 4,5kg(C-LEG) against 3kg(VGK-S) with much closer sit to the stump feel´s incredible light !!! But you can´t do moves safely like you could do with a C-LEG and other CPU controlled one.
The only way i know to get air to stump is install a steel pin into bone. All sockets feel like, you walk with fishingpants. I don´t think that the strongness of the socket will make it less hot !

Thanks for your input. Appreciate it. I keep seeing ads on the internet for is described as a socketless socket by a company called Martin Bionics. Their website shows amputees using this prosthetic in a variety of situations. Looks interesting and would love to hear back from anyone using this product.

I like the flexible edge which allows a comfortable sitting, specialy on a non soft ground. I don´t think this would work on my short stump !
Hope you will get your answers soon !!!
