Hi there! I joined to help a friend who is a fairly recent double btk amputee and says his prostheses are very difficult to get on. He lives in the Rochester, NY area, and has an aversion to doing much online, so I thought I’d try to find out what I could for him. He has had a rep from the company that made the p out several times, but continues to say it often takes him 20 minutes to get the right one on, and that both are pretty uncomfortable while wearing, and he ends up with sores/bleeding. Is this normal? Can he call someone else that might help him get a better fit? Is anyone on this forum in the Rochester/Farmington area that could recommend someone? Is there such a thing as an amputee support group? I live in Florida, so I can’t physically be there, but I think he is getting discouraged and would love to be able to help him with some suggestions.....

I don't know how far he is willing to travel but in long island there is a great place that can help. I think it's a 6 hour trip (driving). Also what's great about the place is that there is a hotel literally two minutes away. If you want information on where contact me and I will give you all the details .
