I had a below the knee amputation in August. After I got my prosthetic I started experiencing a lot of pain in the base of my stump where the bone bridge is. It started with shin bone pain that I pushed through and did a lot of physical therapy. Now I have extreme pain at the distal end of my bone bridge. I can't put weight through the back of my stump. Does anyone have any experience with this? It isn't nerve pain. Orthopedic surgery said my bone bridge didn't heal but they are trying to tell me it's muscle pain and I really don't think that is what it is.

Welcome to the forum!
Yikes! That sounds really painful! Sounds like you should get yourself an x-ray to see what's happening there as soon as possible.

I had a revision to remove my bone bridge, but got a staph infection. Recovery has been extremely hard. I can't wear my prosthetic without excruciating pain. I worry I won't ever be able to walk without my crutches. I had an MRI but they couldn't give me any conclusive answers about the pain in my tibia.

I'm so sorry to hear you are still having issues. Has the infection subsided? Is that what was causing your pain you spoke of in June? Did you lose much in way of length of your stump when they removed the bone bridge?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious. I don't think they were doing many bone bridges when I had my amputation in 1994. My revision surgery in 2012 would have likely required removal of a bone bridge if I were to have one as there was some serious shaping issues to be done and they had to 'trim' my residual tib and fib by about an inch or so to accomplish objectives.
Let us know how we can help. There's a small but mighty following here with some very helpful people who have been through a lot themselves.
