As a new below the knee, I struggle with mobility. I use a walker and “hop” around the house. I am looking for experiences with this. Crutches and what kind? 2 or 4 wheel walker. My house is tri-level so the wheelchair is not practical.

I used crutches exclusively while moving around the house when I was still without the regular use of a prosthetic, but please get training from a PT/OT before tackling the stairs yourself. There's a safe way to do it and a not so safe way to do it. On the floor where I ended up spending the most time, I had a loaner wheelchair as it was just easier to move things around in my lap. Hope that helps!

I’m also a new ATK amputee. I both the regular under arm crutches as well as arm crutches. I prefer the arm crutches(still not proficient with the arm crutches)I also have a 2 wheel walker with a seat, handy for doing chores and also moving stuff around the house. I agree with Trevor. if you’re thinking of going with crutches reach out to your OT for help. Especially with stairs they can be pretty tricky. Good luck!
