Hi Everyone,
I'm Peter and am 58yrs old. In 2018 I had a second infection in less than 10mos of my right hip replacement. After a second opinion it was decided a girdlestone resection was best - removal of the hip replacement. Nothing was inputted - no spacer etc. So, I am left with a 4 inch length leg deficit. Because of no hip or replacement my leg movement is limited and the weight of the elevated shoe causes issues with mobility, stair climbing n descending, back pain, sitting etc. I'm not able to walk without a walker or crutches even though I've gone thru extensive PT.
I'm looking for advice, opinions n comments as to total leg amputation - hip disarticulation.
In researching, I'm finding most leg amputees are able to walk on their n even able to ride a bike.
Any info etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
