Blue skies over London - and not a plane in sight! There's usually LOADS of planes, either landing or taking-off at Heathrow, or flying higher up on their way to other London airports, etc., but since the Icelandic volcanic dust became a problem, nothing at all.
Of course if the wind changes direction, Iceland ain't THAT far from North America....

Yes, I remember how eerily quite the skies over Houston were on 911. I think I heard that flights in Europe may resume on Sunday. Let's hope they're right!

They keep saying that (i.e. that flights will resume on X or Y).
Here in the UK, we get LOADS of specialist vegetables imported via air - beans and peas from East Africa, plaintains from Asia, and on and on, all out of season in northern Europe. This is going to impact most severely on the producers rather than on us pampered consumers.
