Amazing. In the UK, we have this image of Canadian law enforcement as being 'The Mounties', decent upstanding guys who are hard, but fair.
But it seems that the forces of oppression and reaction are just the same wherever you are in the world.
Dreadful story.

I won't comment on the G20, or whether or not the protesters were treated within the confines of their civil rights or not, but I would like to think that the police would be able to assess a percieved threat a little more appropriately than this. I think that's what I find most disappointing about the situation. As far as the people who were out to cause damage and cause a disruption to the proceedings, I would hope that the police used a heavy hand with these clowns - that would be more appropriate.

Wishful thinking, I fear, stonecutter. An institution (in this case The Police) built with such members and with such a philosophy of unthinking oppression is INEVITABLY going to give you and me a bashing as well as the bad guys.
