I need a volunteer living in the US or Canada to do me a big favour.
The favour is: to go to a particular website, buy an item ($8.95 US, total weight about 8 ounces), and then post it to me in the UK!
Why? Because the website in question is (a) the only place I can find that item, and (b) it will NOT ship outside north America. Don't ask me why!
If you've got a PayPal account it would make life easier - I could just send you some money instantly.
(There is in fact one place which does sell them and ship to the UK, but they want a total of about $55 US, which seems excessive).
Thanks.
Allen.

Certainly, Allen. Just message me with the particulars. I have a PayPal account.

This not shipping over seas drives me nut - and to make matters worse, sometimes you can only pay if your billing address is in the US (I tried with Paypal, but it just meant that it took them a day or two longer to figure it out).

Just to finish this one...
Helen ordered my part, got it sent to her address in Texas, and was waiting to post it on to me in London when...
The supplier changed his mind and said he couldn't get the parts any more!
So, another victory for the forces of nonsense. But we will, as ever, be patient...

I decided to see if I could find the part elsewhere, and it's actually offered for sale on quite a few websites, varying in price from $22 to $50. Some ship internationally, including the one selling for $22. When I fake-ordered the part to see how much shipping would be to the UK it was $29! But they also said the part was currently unavailable. Maybe the manufacturer stopped making it? I'm sure it could still be found if you were willing to pay upwards of $50 + shipping... these guys are the most likely to still have some left in stock.

I finally found the part on ebay, for $25, which was fine. The guy said he didn't send to the UK, but made an exception in my case, charged me ten dollars for the postage, and I got the bits a week or so back.
Thanks for the help, Helen - do the same for you if ever it arises!
Allen.
