Thanks for the link, Snowy. It does show up the difference between US and UK amputees! Most of us here can get a 'swim' leg from our limb-fitting centre, which doesn't cost us anything!
In fact, to save mine the trouble, I was thinking of buying a Xersox-type thing, which is a rubber 'stocking' which you slide up over your foot and leg, and then use a built-in hand-bulb to pump the air out, creating a vacuum which seals the rubber to your leg (for a while - they come off after 20 or so minutes, at which point you can just pump them out again). Point is, it's about £50 ($75), and of course they are available (if not actually made) in the States, so anyone needing a basic 'wet' leg could start there.
Looks odd, unlike the thing in your link, so maybe that's what you pay your $1850 for!

It's certainly better looking than my water-leg...and the starting price is only about 25% more than I paid for mine. My issue, I think, would be with the matter of "drainage." The "normal" style does not allow water inside, so the leg is likely to want to "float" when you're in deep water. There is a "diver" style that has a couple of little holes drilled in the leg to admit water and allow the leg to remain solidly underwater, but that version looks really difficult to clean, and I'd think it might be really, really heavy when getting out of deep water while wearing the leg, unless there's some sort of easy "trick" for draining the leg as soon as you get out of the water.
I guess that my piecemeal "naked" water-leg is probably more practical...but gosh, that IS a nice-looking leg!

you reckon Allen? I've never been able to get swim legs, post code lottery again I imagine as they don't do any leisure limbs unless it is connected to employment.

No, you're quite right Ann. I am reporting from 4 or 5 years ago, when I actually REFUSED a wet leg as at the time I didn't have a use for it. I've got a sneaking feeling that there was talk of a cycling leg, too.
Must say I haven't asked for much from the centre for a few years, apart from replacement liners and socks. Haven't even been recast for 18months or more.
I suppose Snowy's link to that $1850 leg might become the norm over here, too, if we don't fight the cuts.

I've had a few recasts due to ill-fit, but like you don't usually ask for anything other than replacement liners or socks, and they haven't been a problem.
Though I think its a bit of a post code lottery, though under the new national commissioning it should be the same for everyone, though I am hearing stories of people not being able to get extra socks, fitting appointments, etc etc.
Would love something like Snowy's waterproof leg link, I live by the sea which is very inviting on sunny days!
