Hi, I am at the point for the first time in years of actually being able to wear a socket. I can't put much weight through it but can walk with crutches. I have a problem with my seal in liner leaving red, very sore areas on my stump. I think it is where the rubber ring runs around the liner, if that makes sense? Anyone know of the possible cause or soloutions to this problem.
I will be having a new socket made in the near future...hopefully.

Hi Ted, I have worn this liner for a few weeks, also tried this liner a few years back and had no problem with it then, although I think they have changed it, it seems thinner than my previous ossur seal in. They moved me to pin lock liner which was not suitable as it drew my soft tissues down too much. Moved back to the seal in about six weeks ago.
Thanks

Ted, This was a new fitting regarding the socket, there are a few problems with it and I will be getting recast soon.

And are you wearing the five ring liner or the original one ring seal?

Lynne: I am guessing you may be a AK when you mention a recent single ring liner. Can't offer advise if that guess is correct. If you are a BK using the single ring liner, and are being recast, consider the 5 ring liner if you have the limb length to do so. I really like my setup, had it about 6 months now. Bill

Thanks Bill, I am an above knee, it's a long story but after five years of unsucessful fitting I have moved to a new prosthetist so this is a new fitting, better than anything I've had so far but still quite far from comfortable or even bearable.
Waiting for date to be recast.

You need to determine for certain if the irritated area is under the ring. If it is you may need to be fitted with a larger liner. the Seal-In liner comes in two centimeter increments and is normally fitted in the next size smaller than the actual limb circumference measurement at the level of the ring.

Thanks Ted,
I will keep an eye on it, I will also measure things myself to check if I have the correct size.
