Other than sometimes feeling the arthritis in my left knee ( prior to amputation) ive never had any other pains in either residual limbs. However with my right B K i have the itchys in my foot that has been gone for ten years. The only thing ive found to ease this is to slap the end of the stump. But it only eases it. What can i do to stop my missing foot to stop itching? As bazzar as it may sound ive even tried scratching my prosthetic foot lol. It drives me bananas to have an intense itch i cant scratch!

My family doctor had me on neurotin for quite awhile to help with my arthritis in my hips. It didnt seem to help with either the hip pain or the itch. But im gonna have to the prosthetic doctor a call on the other suggestion because my new Willow Wood alpha hybrid liners instructions say not to use any kind of skin cream as it could cause cracking in the gel part of the liner. But im gonna check into it. Thanks for the info tho!
Hi Waden, I use Alpha Liners too and you're right about the cream affecting the gel in the liner .... when i use any cream I tend to use it just at night, usually by the morning it doesn't seem to affect the gel.

I bought a mini handheld Homedic massager, it looks like a frog. I turn that on and rub it all over my leg it disrupts all the nerve signals and the sand between my toes disappears!

Hi Waden, My name is Magenta and I work with an engineer researcher who works on phantom limb pain. His name is Professor Ali Mousavi at Brunel University, in West London (http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~emstaam/). His idea is to relieve phantom limb pain with holograms, based on the experience with the mirror box, if you know that technique. Soon he is going to launch a crowdfunding campaign to fund this research. We are looking for people with phantom limb pain to talk on what it is and share with the public how important it would be to have a treatment to relieve them that is easy to use, has little side effects and has minimal interaction with other medications the person may or may not be taking. It is a very sophisticated project, but what is great is it would be just smart holograms you need to exercise with. In addition, he cares to make it affordable to everybody and therefore, at this stage he has chosen not to partner with any companies; thus as this project is difficult to fund he is working with us on a crowdfunding campaign. We believe that having a person affected by phantom limb pain tell their side of the story and how they feel will greatly impact the outcome. Being able to show someone's real life experiences with this problem may encourage people to understand it is important and also to back the project. Therefore, I would like to ask you if you would be interested in the opportunity to express yourself in a video for our website. Your input in this project would be greatly appreciated and we hope that you can consider being a part of this exciting research. If you do not feel comfortable revealing your identity we can conceal your image and/or name. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Additionally, you can check-out our website at www.crowdacure.com/

As mentioned above, mirror therapy is being used routinely at Walter Reed Army Hospital for all their amputees, and it has fairly significant positive results. You can buy a long tall mirror at Walmart for about $8.US put it between your legs and use only the reflection of your meat leg, this supposedly tricks your brain into thinking it is the amputated leg. I did it when I had severe phantom limb pain, but when I had to have a revision recently, I asked my surgeon to do TMR, now I'm symptom free. Another method is to massage your residual limb. That, together with mirror therapy should ameliorate your symptoms
