Is anyone having issues with pop-up ads while visiting our forums? I myself, have not experienced them, but we've recently heard of some feedback, and were wondering if it was an issue with Proboards or something involving the individual's personal computer and adware.
Please let us know by responding here...
Thanks!

No Problem, not in all the time I have been using this forum. Only the header advert which does not bother me at all, it does not effect the reading of messages. Thanks for all your hard work

I'm in the same situation as Lynne...no pop-ups, just the header ad...which is actually kind of interesting, as it makes some fascinating attempts to "relate" to the thread topics!

No pop ups, no banner ads, either.
I usually have images and javascript turned off, though. YMMV.

Same as Cheryl and Lynne, the only ads are in the header, not intrusive at all.

Ditto- I was told to expect ads but never see any but the banner. So it's all good. ;D

Alright. I think we have our answer... Thanks folks. Please let us know if there are any issues that pop up. I think for the most part Proboards is pretty good at keeping spammers and pop ups off our boards, I hope they continue with that success.

For those who don't know, Stonecutter, can you give a brief resumé of how to block them?
Thanks.
Allen.

Sure. If you're using Internet Explorer (I'm on version 7): Tools Pulldown / Pop Up Blocker / Turn On Pop Up Blocker Additional InformationFirefox: Tools Pulldown / Options / Content Panel / Select "Block Pop Up Windows" Additional Information These are the only browsers I use... Anyone else have info on the other browsers?

On Safari it's on the pulldown under 'Safari', where you can turn 'Block pop-up windows' on or off.

There is a rumour circulating on the web that Proboards, our bountiful hosts, object to threads such as this, as blocking pop-up ads obviously affects their profitability.
One English board-hoster even says that they sometimes close boards down if all the members block ads.
I think this is almost definitely nonsense, and just another of those daft rumours that circulate on the web, which as we all know is prone to such silliness.
Whatever the truth, a) it's not going to stop us discussing this topic or suggesting ways in which our members can block pop-ups, and b) [on the basis of the American saying which goes something like: "Talk peace and carry a big stick"] I have kept a list of all email addresses so we can get in touch with you all in the event of some catastrophe!
