ACA's mission is to reach out to and empower people affected by limb loss to achieve their full potential through education, support and advocacy, and to promote limb loss prevention. They do this by:

- raising awareness about and increasing practices to prevent limb loss
- working to ensure that no amputee feels alone through pre- and post-amputation and recovery
- working to help amputees and their family live life to the fullest after amputation

I'm a big fan of the ACA, myself. I've attended a number of their annual conferences, which I'd HIGHLY recommend to any new amputee, and I've been through their Peer Visitor certification program.

I might also note that the ACA has greatly improved its outreach to upper-extremity amputees in the years since I've been involved, which is a very good thing!
