Hello all! My boyfriend who is 53 lost his leg in his early twenties. The one problem he just can't get rid of no matter what he tries is the stink from his stump. He's tried many things but I thought I'd give it a shot on here to see if anyone has found something that actually helps. Yes he keeps it clean and washes liners ect. Thanks for any advice!

How much does his stump sweat? A strange question, I know, but it might make a difference. Usually perspiration issues get less intense as time goes by, but some folks just get sweaty under their liner. If that happens to be part of the problem, a simple mini-clean-up mid-day might be enough to help. (Something like a quick swab of stump and liner with an unscented baby wipe and a dry-off with a paper towel is what I'm thinking of, here.)
I know that there are also some antiperspirant/deodorant products specifically made for amputees out there, but I'm not familiar with brand names. He might check with his prosthetist, or you can search online for suggestions on that front.
As long as he's keeping everything clean and isn't having any problems with skin breakdown, at least it's only a "cosmetic" issue...........

Is his prosthetic a pin and socket? I recently got a vacuum system and am still deciding if it's for me but I do find I don't sweat nearly as much when I wear it compared to the pin socket
