Ok so if you havent guessed by the name, I have no legs. Well half of no legs. But I got to thinking today about smelly feet and how my feet used to sweat and smell. Ever since I lost my feet ive been wondering if my body would now sweat and smell in other places now that I have no feet? Ik its kind of a dumb question but its been bugging me all day and since you cant always smell your own musk its hard to answer on my own lol

Hi there, IHNL. I may be oversimplifying here, but smelly feet are caused by sweat and bacteria in areas that don't get a whole lot of airing-out time. We sweat in order to regulate body temperature, and since you have fewer square feet of skin/evaporation area, your legless body may* try harder to get rid of excess heat by sweating more from the remaining sweat glands you have. But if those sweat glands are in areas that are exposed to the air so the sweat can evaporate, I don't think that should cause an increased odor problem as long as proper personal hygiene is practiced.

Hi IHNL, I am agreeing with what Snowyh says. I have no legs, or parts of legs either and its my understanding that because we do not have our feet (which contain sweat glands), that we make up for it by sweating more elsewhere on our bodies.I should imagine that any odour would come from trapped sweat and bacteria. Personal experience though, tells me that I rarely feel the cold, especially when I am well and wearing prosthetics, walking about etc, however, some of the products used with the prosthetics such as gel liners and sleeves tend to trap the heat and make residual limbs extra sweaty so its important to keep the liners and the sleeves washed regularly, cause they can get quite smelly, regards the rest of the body I think as Snowyh has said its proper personal hygiene.
Like Snowyh says, just guessing because I am not a doctor either.
