Hi there,
I'm a member of "the old forum" - Same user name...
I am a LBK (left below the knee) amputee as a result of one inattentive moment walking through the woodroom of a pulp mill in northern Alberta, Canada fifteen years ago when I was 19. I was working there in the summers as a labourer while I was going to post secondary.
The work I was doing at the time had nothing to do with my chosen career, and luckily it didn't have an effect on the outcome of my plans for life and career.
Life was good before the accident. I've made sure to make life great after.
Hopefully we can collect all of the forum members from the old forum and some new ones too!

Allen here.
I was allen-uk, and I still am. Oh, and my name is Allen, so it all fits together.
I will put a picture of myself up (blimey, there's a treat) as soon as I can find some time.
Bit hectic at the moment.
Allen.

Also a transplant from the "old" forum... still "bluedogz", I am not blue but my dogs are.
Other forums appeared to be open, honest, and polite venues. Here's hoping it stays that way.

I'm Ronniem same as before. I'm a RBK since 2000 due to cancer of the foot and requested drastic surgery... no piece meal approach for me... the further away fromt he cancer site the better. I get frustrated with my inability to do as much as I used to do and forget to pace myself so tend to work hard one day and rest ups for three.

Hi, I'm Ann from the old forum (real name Trudie, if you have seen me on the facebook site).
I have been a bilateral b/k for nearly 40yrs, due to an RTA, and had a revision on one of the legs last year after about a ten year period of problems. Currently things are going well, its been a bit of a long haul to get back to where I wanted to be, but the revision was definitely worth it.
Other than that not much to say, I am married and have three practically grown up children, I would probably say that my accident didn't change my life, I do most of the things I want to do, but in reality it has probably shaped it.
Recognize a few names on here, but hi to everyone, especially to Lynne, who knows me, do hope they get something sorted out soon for you Lynne.

NASCAR!!! Now we're talking my language! Who's your driver? I'm a Stewart/Earnhardt fan. OMG, you have got to be kidding. We are too. Love'm both. We used to go to several races a year until our boys started racing on the weekends. Also think Kyle Bush is a good driver...just needs to grow up. Guess that to will come to pass. In fact we are getting ready to watch the nationwide race this afternoon. ann

Oh, sorry....am I allowed to say Crap.......LOL Lynne: you can say Crap, as loud as you like, or worse, if the mood takes you. This is a meeting place for adults, not kiddies! (I wish 'crap' was the worst expletive I used about my legs and bits). Allen.

There's a line from a soppy C&W song that pops into my head occasionally:
Had a lot of luck, and most of it bad...

It is Holly, a mom to 5 year old wonder. He has a right below the knee prosthetic. He is starting Kindergarten in a week, and I cant believe my little man is off to school! He has his second test socket, and as long as it still looks good in a week or so, we will get the carbon fiber socket next. My favorite parts of the forum is reading the British people's slang, seeing Stonecutter's Shriner's Hat (the Shriners are awesome!), and truly the information has helped me through the last few months. Thank God for you guys!

Hi Holly - glad to hear you're little guy is doing better! ...seeing Stonecutter's Shriner's Hat (the Shriners are awesome!)... I hope the Shriners are able to assist. Without kids like you're little guy, we're just a bunch of dudes wearing silly hats and driving wee cars. Please let the Shriners help in anyway we can.
