Hello Sparky.
Glad you could join us. I share your habit of dark, dusty corners of the mind, perhaps a little too much. I come here to find some sunshine...

I guess I should have posted here first but the other topics looked more important at the time...
I have been a BK peg for 25? years. I gave up Snowbanks and Misquotes in Wisc., for Cactus and tumbleweed's of AZ. What a trade off.
I have been on other Newsgroups and a forum or two in the past, They seemed like a click and I was an outsider so I stopped viewing and posting.
This forum feels more layed back. Still a little slow, but it is still new.
I hope it stays around...
Good posting Don D. AKA "pegleg"

'don', This is a very good forum to be part of...we have alot of people who have been through it all. That really helps a new amputee. They can also show a newbie who to get hold of for help, if needed. Welcome

I am an intermittently-active member of various online amp groups (arm-amp.com, lessthan4, several Facebook groups, etc.). I also attend F2F amputee events when I can ... ACA, One Arm Dove Hunt, I-Can, etc. I lost my left arm at the elbow in 1995 in an accident with an aircraft propeller (and was lucky to survive the accompanying abdominal injuries). I am a widow and live in rural northern Florida.

Hello Dena,
Glad you found us, sorry you had to, if you know what I mean.
We had a series of posts about One Arm Dove Hunt recently, although our semi-resident prosthetist, Ted Trowther, did go too far and try and convince me that cow dunk skimming (or something) was a regular pursuit in the South.

Hi everyone I am new to the group. I am Lynda 44 years old and at the age of 10 I had an accident and lost my left foot. The symes amputation took place August 1976. I am single parent and try to be positive for my 5 year old daughter. I have a good prosthetist that I have known for 20 years plus. I am presently experiencing problems with my limb and I am feeling pretty crap myself at the moment. My prosthetist is looking for new adjustment heal device as well as reinforced foot as due to being minority of this type of amputee I am very limited to whats out there on the market and its so frustrating. Emotionally I am not coping too well I feel patients for symes are being neglected and as we are the minority we don't matter and our limbs are not being updated. If anyone out there has symes amputation would love to hear from you. Its good to chat and am pleased I have found this site.
