Nearly three years in now and miss cycling. Right leg below knee amputee. I need to know what you cyclists think is the best socket. I assume a pin system would be best as the socket is cut lower but anyone with experience of the pros and cons, your help would be much appreciated. Thanks SimonG

Hi, simong, and welcome! There are a LOT of BK cyclists out there...one of this forum's founders cycled quite a lot before some other health issues interfered, so hunt around for some cycling discussions...Allen had some interesting viewpoints on the matter. I used to cycle frequently, but I have to admit that I've been very reluctant to get back onto a bike post-amp...my main problem is that I also have vision/depth-perception problems and a prosthetic foot has a tendency to fly off pedals if it's not fastened on in some manner. The thought of losing balance, not having a clear view of where I'm headed, AND having one foot either held onto the pedal or flying off into space is just a little too much for this old gal!
You do have a pretty good idea of what's needed, socket-wise. It can be much easier to pedal if your socket is cut lower in the back and there's not a lot of "gear" keeping your knee from flexing easily. A pin-lock is easy to adapt that way. I happen to use an elevated vacuum suction suspension and love that system, but it does make for a lot of layers behind you knee...but if you're strong enough and flexible enough, it can be a very stable leg.
Good luck with your research! If you get back to cycling again, share some bike trips with us!
