"Shower-Mate" AK or BK www.showerprotector.com/I have no experience with this product, so cannot make a recommendation--just saw it advertised and thought I'd post the link, in case anyone's interested. Helen PS--The manufacturer lists these for sale on ebay as well. (Can't say whether it's a better price though.)

This one I DID use when I had two legs, with one in a semi-permanent plaster cast: www.xerosox.com/products.htmlThere is a UK website for them, too. The full leg one, which is about £25 (I guess about $40) would work fine on my prosthesis, but the drawback to any such product is that having had a shower, you then have to wash your stump, which is covered by the xerosox (or whatever). So I have a folding stool (attached to the shower wall) which I fold down and then either kneel on with my 'cut' leg while standing upright on my 'good' leg, and then having washed some bits I sit on the stool and do the rest. Needs a bit of getting used to and a very small degree of balance (bear in mind that I'm 60-ish, fat-ish, and not very fit-ish). Allen.

Do you guys think that my son would benifit from this when we go to the beach? The one vaccum seal one says that you shouldnt wear it over 45 minutes.... My son's prothetist says that he can just use his old leg and have at it. I am worried about him sinking and drowning so I have considered these products before. We always stay at a condo like place on the beach with a pool so we can go back and forth. What do you guys think?

Likewise the old leg would probably be good for him just 'playing around on the beach, maybe in and out the water' but imagine a young single b/k , like, Noble would probably be easier swimming without a prosthesis.

Does Noble have a cover on his prosthesis, or just a plain pylon? The "plain pylon" would probably be just fine for him to use his old leg...a foam cover would float (and would actually make it harder for him to swim).
If he were my child, I think I'd encourage him to use the old leg while getting about on the beach, and then taking it off and swimming prosthesis-free in the water. When his growth slows and his residual limb stabilizes, he can decide if a water activity leg would be right for him.

Allen, I think you are being too hard on yourself { fat-ish, 60-ish and fit-ish} I would suggest that the next time you change your picture, SMILE, just alittle.
