Hello again ! Another question for you leg amps out there that I hope you can help me with. crutches,I have a pair of the standard underarm type, a pair or standard forearm type and the Iwalk2, the underarms kill my posture and rub between my underarms but are the ones i use most, the forarm crutches are cheap and basic and not to comfortable but I like the size and better freedom, the Iwalk2 works at home but are a pain if I want to go out in the car, always taking it on and off plus the straps dig in my legs. My question is does anyone use an exotic type of crutch that is more ergonomic? Looking for something that will last and is comfortable while growing into my prostetic....

You're a step ahead of me...after 13 years, I'm still useless with crutches! I do know that there are a lot of companies out there who keep trying to improve the ergonomics of crutches--and I've tried a number of them--but I wouldn't dare to recommend anything, as I've never been able to make any of them work.
I'd suggest you try some on-line research, find a good medical equipment/supply dealer, and see if they can provide some samples for you do try out. Ask anyone you see using crutches as well...if they've been crutching it for any amount of time they're likely to have opinions. I do know that a lot of folks have suggested variations on forearm crutches to me, and they do seem more logical than the underarm style, but....hey....I'm an incredible clutz.
The best of luck to you in your search, though......

I'm of zero help to you - I only ever used the traditional crutches. Armpits are still sore and I haven't used them in 5 1/2 years...

I'm terrified of going outside a carpeted area with crutches, too many slips. But on carpet I can cruise like no other. I don't rest on my pits I carry through my hands and arms. Seems to help unless I have to stand still for a long time then I ride the pits.

I'm a big fan of forearm crutches, can't use underarm for reasons mentioned above. I also have a real fear of the underarm crutches on stairs.
I used the standard-issue aluminum forearm crutches going back 20 years to the beginning of my foot and ankle troubles. After amputation, I bought a pair of Walk Easy #495 Forearm crutches. They are awesome. Good rubber tips make a huge difference, and you can get tips that offer better grip on wet surfaces and even ice and snow.
