During last night's episode of Man With a Plan ("April Fools" episode), the main character's wife tells the following story about why she hates pranks:
Andi: When I was seven, my sister told me that my room was haunted by the ghost of a lady with a hook hand. She lost her wedding ring because it kept sliding off the hook. She would sneak into my room every night and search for it.
Don: That's ridiculous... who would marry a lady with a hook hand? (studio audience laughs)
First of all, I'm a little surprised that this line slipped by CBS' censors, especially given the current climate of political correctness. Apparently the joke's only funny if you agree with the premise that no one would want to marry an amputee. CBS must recognize the influence they have over the public, especially young minds. A few seconds for a throw-away comment just to get a laugh, and they have planted a subtle/subliminal seed thought in the minds of viewers that amputees are somehow less desirable (or even worse, altogether undesirable) as mates. Shame on you, CBS!

Not good...not funny...just UGH! In a world where there is more and more inclusion for folks with various disabilities/differences, that just sounds like an act of mass stupidity.
Thanks for pointing it out, Helen!
