Amputation happened three years ago. Just had third graft done and healing. Need help on keeping stump good. Graph has failed each time after going back to prosthetic or changing to new one. Beleive it is humidity/friction. Have only been wearing a prosthetic sock each time given to me by person making me prosthetic. 5-ply or 3-ply. Had drilled holes in my crow boot that seemed to help but when I transitioned In to another prosthetic the graft failed again. I have been wrapping my foot with an ABD pad to protect it the past year until my surgeon offered to graft it again. Any ideas on reducing friction on ball of foot. I have another month before I can try to walk again.

Hi and welcome! Am I right in thinking that your graft is failing somewhere in the vicinity of the ball of your foot? I'm a basic below-knee amputee, and I don't have any skin grafts...but on my NON-amputated side I have a long and complicated history of skin breakdown and open sores forming on the ball of my foot. I've been through everything EXCEPT amputation on that foot (11 surgeries over three years) and might be able to at least give you some tips or a listening ear if your graft is failing in that same spot. So what are your "details?"
