Hi. My name is Kai and I am beginning my process of trying to find someone who will do BAKA (Bilateral Above Knee Amputation) surgery on me. My whole life I have suffered in pain I can only describe as worse than death and my legs do not function properly either. I can barely walk at all and use a wheelchair almost all the time (and I will need a wheelchair for the rest of my life unless I have the amputations and learn to use prosthetics). My physical therapist has even described my legs as "unsalvageable". I really think amputation would help me move on with my life and increase my quality of life. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have had an elective amputation? It would be especially nice to talk to someone that had a above knee elective amputation(s), but anyone who has had a elective leg amputation could be helpful for me to talk to. Also, it would be greatly appreciated if some of you could leave the name of your surgeon/doctor (and where they are located) that agreed to do an elective amputation. Some surgeons I have heard really don't want to do an elective amputation and I need one that would have an open mind (to make the process go easier). Thanks so much. Kai
