3D printed sockets

Took my prosthesis into the shop yesterday.   Was talking about this and that and was told that they are awaiting the arrival of their new large 3d printer.  They will be able to make sockets in approximately 2 hours from the laser scan of your residual limb and have it ready the same day for use by the amputee.

We've come pretty far from the plaster cast days.

Holy cow! The last time I got a prosthesis was at least 25 years ago, so it's hard to imagine all the advances that have been made since then.
