Hello Everyone
I am a left below the knee amputee. I had diabetic neuropathy in my feet(now just the one foot). I somehow injured my left pinky toe and the bone got infected. I had my two small toes removed. I was on antibiotics for six weeks and when they were done the infection flared up and I ended up getting my foot removed in the first week of March. I have been in a temporary prosthetic since the beginning of May.
The day after I received my prosthetic leg I went to work with a walker and stopped using it halfway through the day. I have been walking unaided since. I am a network engineer and have been able to work from home and even the hospital a lot which has been great. The other week I picked up a 50 pound server off of the floor by myself and carried down the hallway to a bench to work on it.
I do have some phantom limb pain, but it is more strange than bad. I have pimples and heat rash from the liners. I am keeping them and my skin clean and disinfected. I am hopeful that my skin will adjust after a while. I have a little pain sometimes when I get up after sitting for a while. I just push through it and it normalizes after I take a few steps. I am still in my first socket and am going to get a new one today.
